Last Saturday, I thought it would be fun to create a few alpine trough gardens featuring our 2 new SunSparkler® additions for 2015, SunSparkler® Sedum ‘Lime Twister’ and SunSparkler® Sedoro ‘Blue Elf’.
I used a variety of Sedums and Sempervivums in this colorful combination. The bright orange in the right-hand corner is my selection of Sedum ‘Coral Carpet’. I’ve collected ‘Coral Carpet’ from about 15 different sources and spent the past 3 years evaluating these different clones. This was my favorite.

As you can see from this close-up picture of SunSparkler® Sedum ‘Lime Twister’, it adds a wild variety of colorful variegated foliage with tints of pink highlights.
This tight-growing little blue Sedum look-alike is our exciting new breeding breakthrough hybrid between Sedum and Orostachys, named SunSparkler® Sedoro ‘Blue Elf’.
Sedoro ‘Blue Elf’ keeps this compact 3″ tall habit for the entire growing season and is topped with clusters of hot-pink, grape-soda-scented flowers in late summer which are highly attractive to honey-bees.
Lastly, here’s one other alpine trough garden featuring both Sedum ‘Lime Twister’ and Sedoro ‘Blue Elf’.
I added a couple of Sempervivums along with the red foliage of Sedum album hillebrandtii.
